The bodies of the Bundeszahnärztekammer

The bodies of the Bundeszahnärztekammer are the Federal Assembly, the Board and the Executive Board.

The Federal Assembly

The supreme decision-taking body of the Bundeszahnärztekammer is the Federal Assembly. For the moment, the Federal Assembly has 135 delegates, who were sent from the 17 regional dental chambers. The Federal Assembly elects for a period of four years the President and the two Vice-presidents. It adopts the budget and defines the guidelines of professional politics of BZÄK. It meets once per year in autumn in a regular federal meeting.

Each regional dental chamber sends 1 delegate per 600 dentists registered in its scope of responsability; for the remaining number of dentists of its scope of responsability, if more than 300 dentists, it is enabled to send a further delegate to the Federal Assembly. The minimum number of delegates per chamber is two.

The tasks and authorisations of the Federal Assembly are:

  • Election and dismissal of the President and both Vice-presidents
  • Acceptance of the accounts and to formally give approval to the Board
  • Approval of the administrative budget and the regular membership contributions for financing the administrative budget
  • Decision-taking on motions
  • Determination of priority objectives and missions of the Bundeszahnärztekammer
  • Agreement to modifications of the Constitution of the BZÄK with a necessary two-third-majority (2/3) of all elected delegates
  • Appointment of a cash auditing committee
  • Appointment of a budget committee
  • Decision-taking on investment and use of the assets of the Bundeszahnärztekammer

The Board

The Board of the Bundeszahnärztekammer is composed by the Presidents of the 17 regional dental chambers, the elected President of the Bundeszahnärztekammer and both Vice-presidents - if those, in their capacity as Presidents of a regional dental chamber - are not already automatically member of the Board.

The Board works in an honorary capacity and takes decisions in all matters of BZÄK - which are not the responsibility of the Federal Assembly - and this in accordance with the resolutions of the Federal Assembly and considering its Constitution in all issues of the association.

The Executive Board

The Executive Board consists of the President and the two Vice-presidents of the BZÄK.
